August 2022 Newsletter

Greetings, dear friends, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Update on our new women’s home! We have made much progress. We had to use two and half truck loads to haul everything away! The cleaning and restoration of the house is almost complete! But there is still much work to do!

We have our sights on the first weekend of September for an opening day! So please keep us in your prayers as we move forward in this mission project!

Please pray for Alvaro. He has been on our staff for four years and has been desiring to see his family, especially his mother. Alvaro was the black sheep of the family and caused much harm at home in the past.

During this time, his brother who lives in Tijuana, has been trying to protect his family from Alvaro who has been showing his brother that he is no longer the same man who caused so much physical harm in the past.

Alvaro has not seen his mother and family for over 8 years but is hoping to fly south at the end of September and re-unite with his family and mother!

He said to me: “I can’t blame my brother from trying to protect my mother, I have caused great harm! So, I decided to wait upon the Lord for His perfect timing! And that time has finally arrived! I am so excited to show my mother and family what God has done in my life. I am a new man in Christ!” So, as you see, we are all excited with our brother for this opportunity to share the Lord with his family.

Please pray for our brother Alvaro that God will give him the words of blessing and salvation for his family! If you are interested in helping us and Alvaro, we are looking for a one-time gift of $500 dollars!

In this month of August, we had our men’s retreat and what a blessing it was! We had 46 men come from all of our ministries across Tijuana. Our turnout was great considering it was on Wednesday and Thursday! More would have come if our retreat was held on a weekend!

We had great fellowship, teaching and play time! We are already planning for next year in the same place but this time it will be on a weekend! We will announce the dates in advance so others can also join us!

As I write this letter, we had a breakout of destruction of burning cars and taxis by the drug cartel throughout Tijuana. A total of 24 vehicles were burnt in just the first night. The reason for this violence was in retaliation of one of their main men having been captured by the Mexican police!

Tijuana is internationally recognized as one of the most dangerous cities in the world! Please continue your prayers for us in this fragile environment. All our staff and locations are safe! Thanks for your prayers as we find ourselves serving in this threatening and dangerous city!

Please pray for our mission team heading to Oaxaca in the third week of August! We can’t wait to see Juan and Olga and help establish a more powerful witness for our Lord Jesus Christ in Oaxaca!

So, as I always say, thanks to each one of you for giving us the means to be an instrument in God’s hands for ministry and restoring families! We could not do what we do if it were not for you, our partners, who help us do the Lord’s work together! Thanks for making La Roca your family!

In His Love and Truth, Carlos and Rossy and the rest of La Roca team!
